Benefits

Schools

  • Helps beat inflation by obtaining the instruments needed today while avoiding annual price increases.

  • Gives music educators the opportunity to obtain needed instruments to complete a successful music program while remaining within their budget.

  • Helps schools replace older instruments that are depleting their repair budgets.

Dealers

  • Allows schools to purchase larger ticket items that they may have passed on previously (i.e. pianos, timpani, etc.).

  • Dealers are required to service the instruments for the term of the lease so the school must maintain a relationship with the dealer.

  • Schools are used to making the lease payment, and directors are looking to start a new lease for instruments when their current lease is paid off.

  • Dealers can develop long, mutually beneficial relationships with schools through leasing.

  • Schools may be purchasing a portion of the next 3-5 years’ budgets.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Who can lease instruments?

This plan is designed to meet the current needs of schools and can be offered only to individual schools or school systems, whether they are public, private or parochial. The plan may also be offered to music booster organizations. All public schools, parochial schools, universities, and music booster organizations qualify for this program.

  • What can be put on a lease?

Any brand of instrument may be combined with equipment such as cases, risers, etc.

  • What happens at the end of the lease?

The schools obligations under the lease are completed after all of the payments, including the final payment of $1, are remitted to BGE.

  • Who covers the insurance on the instruments?

The school as lessee is required to have insurance for any theft, mysterious disappearance, or damage to any or all items/equipment covered by the lease. Any such loss does not relieve the school of any of the terms or conditions of the contract. Maintenance, including that required during the life of the lease due to normal wear and tear, is the responsibility of the school. Optional insurance is available through BGE with a $0 deductible and 100% coverage

  • Does BGE offer a Municipal Lease for public schools and universities?

Yes, all leases for public schools and universities would be on municipal lease documentation unless instructed otherwise.

  • Is the municipal lease annually renewable?

The municipal lease is renewable for the length of lease term and is automatically renewed each year when the annual payment is made. The only reason the municipal lease may not be renewed is for non-appropriation.

  • Do the limited warranty provisions apply to leased instruments?

Each instrument delivered to the school will have a standard limited warranty as provided by the manufacturer. The dealer (VENDOR) will be responsible for servicing the product as if it were a purchased instrument.

  • Can the lease be paid off early?

Yes, the school can pay the lease off early and receive a rebate of unearned lease charges.

  • Is there a minimum lease amount?

Yes, $3,000 is the minimum lease base amount, and the maximum term of 5 years may be used.

  • Who is responsible for the shipping cost?

The music dealer will include the shipping cost in the lease payment.

  • Does BGE provide financing for churches and drum & bugle corps?

Yes, BGE is able to finance churches and drum & bugle corps. These entities are subject to credit approval and carry maximum term of 3-years.

Step by Step Procedures

  1. Discuss the music educator's instrument and equipment needs for the present and future.

  2. Log in (first-time users will need to create their own login).

  3. Complete a proposal by entering desired instruments with their list and selling prices. Fill in profit, freight, sales tax (if applicable) and documentation fee (waived for NAMM members), and then click on Calculate Proposal for payment amount. Save a copy of the final proposal for your records. NOTE: If a LESSEE is taxable, DEALER is responsible for collecting and remitting sales tax, but the tax can be included in the lease base.

  4. Now you have three view options:

    1. List Price Only - Will only display retail prices in the body of the proposal.

    2. Selling Price Only - This version will display selling prices (including freight and profit) for each item.

    3. List and Selling Price - Displays both retail and selling prices.

  5. Upon preparation, the proposal may be printed or emailed. The school officials can now see their exact costs and decide on the lease plan that suits their needs. A school official will need to sign the lease/purchase proposal. Once signed, fax or email it to BGE Financial Corporation.

  6. You can edit or modify saved proposals at any time by logging in to our proposal manager.

  7. After we receive the proposal, a lease and instructions will be emailed directly to school officials.

  8. An authorized individual will have 90 days to sign paperwork and return it to BGE.

  9. Most entities will include their first payment with their signed documents. Public Schools will submit their first payment when delivery is completed.

  10. Upon receiving a completed lease and obtaining credit approval, you will receive authorization to drop-ship or deliver the product.

  11. Deliver product and invoice as instructed.

  12. Once all products have been received by the school, the same school official who signed the lease will need to sign the acceptance certificate portion of the lease and return it as directed.

  13. The lease will be funded in full within 10 days after receiving the signed lease, the signed acceptance certificate, insurance information, the first year's annual payment, and the dealer's invoice.
